THE ROPE

THE ROPE
[October 18th, 2026]
Some days be like
holding onto a rope
being dangled over an abyss,
a bottomless chasm of dark fire.
Holding on white-knuckled,
rope burn,
hands chafed and bleeding,
thighs cramping
to keep holding on
and holding on
and holding on
because if you let go
you won't die from the fall right away.
You'll just keep falling down
and down
and down
and down
and down
and keep falling deeper and deeper
into endless torment.
Some days you just hold on with everything you have
cramping and shaking
and begging G-d to move the fucking rope
somewhere, anywhere.
Some days the rope swings back and forth
and you think "I'm going to fall, this is the day"
and you keep holding on like a stubborn fuck
and everyone points and stares
and says "you're so strong" when you're just too fucking afraid to let go,
or worse, they tell you your rope is wrong,
or you're bleeding too much,
or "have you tried just climbing down?"
It seems at least once a week this happens
and I'm so fucking tired of it.
But several months ago every day was like this,
so I guess that's progress?
Dear G-d, I am begging You, move the fucking rope today.
Move it to an alley, move it to a desert,
move it to a tundra,
move it to a fucking Taylor Swift show,
I don't fucking care,
just give me a fucking break today.
I am tired, I am sore and bleeding
not just from the cracked hands gripping the rope
but bleeding out inside from an entire fucking life
full of days like this.
Please just give me a fucking break.
